Our Story

To solve the cannabis supply problem, putting people first is paramount.

We believe that medical-grade cannabis will transform patient care once companies providing it have a reliable, consistent, and high-quality supply of cannabinoids with which to create consistent and dependable medications.

In 2017, we founded Plena to deliver on this promise.

Since then, we’ve established operations in South American locations that have the ideal mix of climate, regulation, and economy to support consistent, premium seed-to-wholesale production at scale.

Along the way, we’ve kept people top of mind and at the center of our enterprise.

We’ve partnered with people who share our values of integrity, quality, and innovation.

When we acquired Colombia-based Econnabis and its 30 hectares of top-flight growing land, we were drawn to its visionary founders who had also helped establish some of the first medicinal compassion clinics in Barcelona and the first cannabis producers association in Latin America.

When we began identifying the ideal 20 million square foot growing operation in Peru, we partnered with local growing leaders who have a combined 400 years of agricultural experience.

Putting people first also means assisting patients to experience recovery, relief, and a higher quality of life. We do this by enabling our partners to provide reliable supplies of the high-quality medical-grade cannabis products that patients need

Supplying cannabis means more than health care. It means healthy communities.

Beyond benefitting patients and partners, we can raise the quality of life in the communities in which we operate. We take this opportunity seriously.

Through job creation and socially responsible policies, we’re bringing prosperity to local economies. Our employee benefits, such as medical care and family forward policies, foster economic security in small communities and provide the chance for residents to participate in the economy.

We think long term and believe that an economically-secure community today compounds into a healthier, more educated, and more prosperous community tomorrow.

Plena is becoming the world’s premier business-to-business medical-grade cannabis supplier. As we do, we want the people who live in the places we operate to benefit as much as the patients our plants ultimately serve.
